Help us Match a 3:1 Endowment Challenge Grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Since the year 2000, with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the “Giza Archives Project” at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) has been posting thousands of unique images, drawings, documents, and publications on the Internet.

As the ancient monuments themselves deteriorate, the value of the documentation preserved by the Giza Archives and Web site only increases.

THE GIZA CHALLENGE GRANT CAMPAIGN

In June 2008, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded the MFA a $500,000 challenge grant to support the Museum’s efforts to endow the Giza Archives. The MFA must raise $1.5 million in matching funds to complete this challenge by June 30, 2011.

The MFA is now looking to individuals and institutions who share our keen interest in archaeology, cultural preservation, ancient Egypt, and technology to help us meet the challenge and ensure that the Giza Archives and Web site continue to be available to the world. Please help us to

  • Preserve Giza’s legacy for the world community
  • Provide groundbreaking scholarship opportunities
  • Enhance a world-class model for intelligent access to archaeological information
  • Create source material for exciting new interactive museum galleries and educational displays.

Please join us in our efforts to meet the Mellon Foundation challenge for the Giza Archives and safeguard this exceptional resource. Contributions of any size are welcome.
