G I-South Cemetery: Mastaba IV
Junker No: M. IV
Reisner No: G III S
Reisner No., alternate spelling: G I S No.3
Stone-built mastaba
Baer Date: Menkaure or later
PorterMoss Date: Dynasty 4: Menkaure
Excavator: Hermann Junker
German, 1877–1962

Tomb Owner: Khufudjedef (Mastaba IV)

Shafts: S 68; S102; chapel
Remarks: Mastaba is one of nine major tombs (as well as two "potential" ones) built in a line along south side of Khufu Pyramid, east of Mastaba III, west of Lepsius 52 (aka Mastaba V) and north of Iymery [I]. S 102 is a later burial shaft, dug in the northeastern corner of the eastern addition to the mastaba. Junker assigned numbers I to XI for this row of mastabas. Mastaba II was not assigned as the space where II would have been was filled with collection of smaller mastabas. Reisner assigned numbers I to X sequentially to the nine major mastabas that were actually built (and Lepsius 52 = Junker's Mastaba V = Reisner's G IV S).
