Dr. Reisner has decided to begin small clearing operations on the mastaba needed to complete the map of the south end of the Echelon cemetery. We shall begin work on Wednesday morning on the small mastabas east of G 2160, namely G 2165, G 2166, G 2167.

[margin note: Inscriptions
Work on:
(1) G 1011
(2) G 1047]

Today in the early evening I worked on the old problem of the drum of the stele in G 1011 and made a fresh copy of the fading painted inscription on the stele of G 1047.

[margin note: (1) G 1011]
The left (west) end of the G 1011 drum, which had been so puzzling since it apparently bore the title [TRANSLITERATION]-priest, impossible for so small a mastaba, now appears to be without doubt the name [TRANSLITERATION] [GLYPHS] [Sedjemu], and the whole text reads [TRANSLITERATION].
For hand copy, see tomb card.

[margin note: (2) G 1047]
The fresh copy of the stele G 1047 revealed a new title for the owner [TRANSLITERATION] [Niankhmin], on the inner south frame panel. The title [TRANSLITERATION] on the cross bar and on panel I-N (North back of outer niche) is certain. For copy see tomb card.
