Wednesday, February 4, 1925 (continued)
In accordance with a permit from the service and authority given by Dr. Reisner and Dr. Borchardt and Herr Rusch came over in the morning to make arrangements for a small "dig" on the four faces of the Great Pyramid. During the afternoon a few of our men [actually fourteen Quftis and fourteen to twenty-two locals] were engaged in clearing the eastern south corner foundation - stone place, and small areas near the centers of the south and east faces where Petrie had used casing blocks for measuring the Pyramid. The object of Dr. Borchardt's work is to check Petrie's results.

(1) Street G 7500
Here the men are clearing out the Interior Chapel of G 7510 and today found a number of fragments of fine relief, and painted decoration in the southern part of the chapel. Among them was the south part of the inscribed architrave bearing the name and title of the "Count Ankh-haf" thus [GLYPHS], in beautifully carved and detailed relief. A few fragments of ceiling decoration are very beautiful, colors [are] well preserved. Most of the constructions at the south end of this street are now seen to belong to one stone mastaba (?Dynasty 6), which has been given the number of G 7631 (which see). The work has now begun to return northward along the street, clearing down to rock. A few men are still clearing under the old track of Line VII.
