The mastabas c.c.c etc. will be cleared first, a.a. are the ones which apparently belong to the next concession, at [G 4240???] is where the inscribed stone was taken last year by the local Arabs.

The police authorities are erecting a watch house on the causeway at "b" [this and original notes say "b" but other typed copy says "d"] by the side of the road to the house. This is not yet finished and the guards are sleeping in a temporary tent. Evidently the police mean to look after the pyramid district better than in former years.

The natives at Girga and vicinity are giving trouble, and our men say that the local authorities make no effort to stop the thieving. I will write to the Mamur of Girga
